History of Křemencova Street
At the beginning of the 15th century, it was named after Velík Křemenec, the owner of one of the local houses. Its name was later corrupted to "Skřemenná" and later, in the 18th century the street was called Poštovská or Old Poštovská. There was a regular route for postal cars. The street is 260 meters long and there are several important buildings. It is, for example, the building of the former first Czech real grammar school, whose significant graduates were, for example, Jiří Voskovec and Jan Werich. It is also a semi-detached house, where one of the oldest and most famous Czech breweries with the "U Fleků" beer hall is located. Last but not least the corner house Křemencova 2, which stands out for its Neo-Renaissance architecture and interesting niches with allegorical sculptures.
